General Tom Garrett, US Army (Retired)
Major General (Retired) "Tom" Garrett retired from military
duty with more than 37 years combined Active Duty,
Army Reserve, and National Guard service. He was the
Division Commander of the 42nd Infantry Division on 9-11
and was the New York National Guard's Joint Task Force
Commander during much of the World Trade Center disaster
recovery effort
He subsequently worked in the Homeland
Security field for the State NJ until his retirement
He began his military career in 1966 as a Distinguished
Military Graduate of W. Virginia University's ROTC program
and served a total of 37-1/2 years in the Regular
Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and the National Guard of both
New Jersey and New York.
He commanded at every level through Division, including a
Field Artillery battery with the 2nd Infantry Division along the Republic of
Korea DMZ, an Armor Company, two Mechanized Infantry battalions, and two
Armor brigades in New Jersey's 50th Armored Division.
He also served in numerous operations, logistics,
and inspector general positions in Artillery, Armor, and Infantry.
