Abstract The biggest advantage of industrial networks is their ability to transmit lots of information over a single pair of wires. Industrial networks have optimized and changed the way process plants and factories operate. Traditionally sensing or control devices were hardwired to the host system providing only one piece of information therefore obtaining diagnostics was not possible. Today the introduction of digital devices such as microprocessors allows for the extraction of valuable information (analog or digital) from field devices in order to increase performance and to predict failures as well. Using existing technology, industrial devices such as Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) have allowed the complete decentralization of the entire control process, eliminating the need for large panels as well as the physical space associated. "A live demonstration using an Emerson Delta V DCS controlling ASCO devices will be provided. Some of the networks to be demonstrated are AS-interface, DeviceNet and Foundation Fieldbus" . Sponsors Sponsored By: ISA, IEEE PCJS Section, and IEEE NJ Coast Section AESS/ED/EMS/LEOS/MTT Chapters Emerson Industrial Automation / ASCO Numatics Open to all ISA, IEEE , DeVry students and faculty Food and refreshments will be served.
